Tuesday Tips #4

Morning Lovelies! Sorry I haven't done this weekly for a while, as you know I haven't been blogging much at all due to one thing or another. Anyways things should be back to normal now, so I hope you enjoy all the tips in the coming weeks :) This weeks tip is to help you save £££££££, when you would usually splurge ...

If your mascara is starting to dry up don't fret, pet! Simply place the tube in a cup of hot water for a few seconds. This will loosen the liquid and give you a good as new mascara!

Where have you been?!

Hello Lovelies!

I am so sorry I haven't blogged in like forever (about a week) I'm not very well at the moment. I keep being sick and going dizzy, but I'm at the doctors tomorrow so hopefully I will be feeling better soon. As I have mentioned a few times, April was always going to be tough for me. I have umm'd and ahh'd about whether to tell you all what I'm talking about and I decided that I owe it to you really, you are my amazing, loyal readers after all.

It's a very personal matter tbh, so I am sorry if you believe I shouldn't be posting this or if you find it upsetting etc.

Last August I found out I was pregnant. Myself, my fiance and both of our families were absolutely over the moon and couldn't wait for the new addition. I was never away from the hospital, because my diabetes started to get worse with pregnancy. I was put onto tablets and insulin and was very closely monitored. I had the worst morning sickness ever, but I didn't mind one bit - It would all be worth it. I spent hours cooing over baby clothes and reading pregancy books/magazines. My first scan was booked for 21st October and I was beside myself with excitement. The night before my scan I painted my nails in pretty stripes and laid out my clothes for the next day. Everything had to be perfect when I saw my little prince or princess for the first time.

So, the next day myself, my fiance and my parents set off to the hospital and waited patiently in the waiting room until my appointment. We couldn't wait to dash out after the scan and buy the baby's first little bits and bobs, I also had my eye on a cute little frame to put the scan picture in. We were called into the scan room and I was layed down on the couch, my tummy being rubbed with cold jelly. I was watching the screen anticipating seeing my little one, but it never happened. The sonographer said that perhaps I wasn't as far along in the pregnancy as I thought (12 weeks) so decided to do a vaginal ultrasound. I asked my fiance and family to leave the room, as by this point I think I knew that there was something wrong and I was in tears just wanting to be alone.

After what seemed like an eternity, the bad news came. I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum. It's quite hard to explain what this means, but basically a blighted ovum is a type of pregnancy loss where after conception, the fertilised egg implants in your uterus, but for some reason a baby does not develop. The gestational sac etc was still present and waiting to leave my body and I was asked if I wanted help in starting the process, but I decided to allow it to happen naturally. It took around 2 weeks to start and I have never been through a more painful experience, physically or emotionally. I had to go into hospital and stay overnight.

The months after have been the hardest time of my life, but I think I am finally starting to piece my life back together now. It would have been my due date last monday (30th april) and since then I feel like I have been given closure. Obviously, my recovery is going to be an ongoing process but I have the best support I could possibly wish for.

Thanks for reading.
Normal service will be resumed asap.

Are you a cat or dog person? (:

Aloha Lovelies!

Hope you're all having a better week than I am :/ not going to go into detail, but my sister is being a right pain in the bum! Anyways, enough about that lol... I get asked random questions all the time and today I am going answer one that I got asked by Black Asphodel.

Are you a dog or cat person?

Wellll... If I had been asked this question a few years ago I would definately have said I was a cat person. I have always loved cats and got my first as a pet when I was 10 :) Sadly Tammy had cancer and passed away when she was only 2 years old. A couple of years later when I was 14 I took a little stray cat home. She became a permenant fixture at my house and I named her emmie :) Very sadly Emmie died when she was also only 2, from the very same disease. When I was 17 a friend's cat was having kittens and I decided to adopt one. Her name is Amber, she is a fiery red head and I love her to bits :) She is nearly 8, but still a furry ball of fun! hehe.

Up until I was 16 I was terrified of dogs, I used to cross the road to avoid them and If one barked at me that was it! lol. A girl I made friends with at that time though, had a dog. As I spent more time around tipsy (her dog) the less afraid I became and I actually learned to love her :) I now wanted a puppy of my own and that's how ended up with my gorgeous, 8 year old, border collie - Tinker :) He is such a little cutie and I don't know what I'd do without him ♥

So getting back to the original question... I couldn't possibly choose, so I would have to say I am a cat and dog person. Oh and a hamster person too - Ruby will get cross if she doesn't have a mention!! :p

Tinker & Amber ♥

Ruby ♥

Are you a cat or a dog person or even a hamster person? lol :p

Let me know!

Tuesday Tips #3

Hello Lovelies! Today's tip is all about making the most of your smackers, without the hefty price tag (and pain!) of collagen injections etc ...

For fuller looking lips simply line the outside of your mouth with bronzer before applying your lippy and then a little highlighter onto your cupids bow after!

What are your top tips for a fabulous pout? :)

GOSH - Smokey Eyes Palettes! (;

Salut Lovelies!

Hope you are all good :) I know I haven't blogged much lately at all, but I am going to let you all know why in a very personal post soon. Today I have a review of the GOSH Smokey Eye Palettes in 01 Black and 02 Brown.

The Low Down:

'These palettes of bold and beautiful eye makeup come complete with four flattering shadow shades that blend to suit any eye shape and skin tone. Formulated with a high intensity colour pigmentation that will stay vibrant all day long, each palette comes with a numbered guide to show you exactly where to apply each colour. Slim and neat enough for popping into any handbag.'

The ingredients:

Mica, Talc, CI77499/Iron Oxides, Dimethicone, CI77891/Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Stearate, CI77491/Iron Oxides, CI77492/Iron Oxides, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

CI77000/Aluminium Powder - Present in 01 Black only.

The Packaging:

These wonderful shadows come in cute little black palettes (8g 0.3oz) I love how they look - simple, yet funky and will add extra oomph to your makeup bag! The hard plastic palettes are easy to open, which is fab for me because I have long nails that I dont wish to break. The packaging is clear and legible - perfect :)

The product:

Both of these palettes are fabulously pigmented and easy buildable - fantastic for day or night. Palette 01 is especially amazing for a natural everyday look and palette 02 is ideal for creating a smokey eye look that is a celebrity must wear at the moment. The shadows are super easy to apply and will have you looking A-list ready in next to no time!

Conclusion:

I actually really like these products from GOSH and they are fast becoming a staple in my cosmetics bag (especially palette 02!) It's crazy to think I hadn't tried any GOSH products until this year, where have I been?! The shadows are long lasting, versatile and reasonably priced - what's not to love?! I would give these a very well deserved 9/10!

If you would like to try a GOSH Palette for yourself, simply head on down to Superdrug and a bag yourself one of these beauties for only £7.99.

Also comes in 03 Plum (which I'm pretty sure I will be purchasing!)

What do you think of this product?

Have you tried anything by GOSH?

Tuesday Tips #1

I've just realised this post is a day late, I AM CRACKING UP.

As you may or may not remember, ages ago i started a weekly feature called 'Tuesday Tips'. I'm not quite sure why I stopped, I think I'm just bad at sticking at things, but anyways I'm bringing it back.

Every tuesday I will post a tip, that hopefully you will find helpful in one way or another. The tips will mostly be beauty-related, but I might just throw in a few random ones for good measure. We'll see.

Today's tip is quite a simple makeup one ...

Don't apply blusher all the way to the hairline, stop at the curve of your cheekbone for a natural glow.

*How not to wear your blusher.

Do you have any amazing tips you would like to share? :)

Dark Angels! ♥

Hello Lovelies!

A while ago I got invited to take part in Schwarzkopf Professional's Essential Looks Salon Style Competition. I'm not great at styling hair, but decided to give it a go. I like a challenge ;) The competition is open to all UK hair professionals and bloggers aged 18 or over, so why not enter?! All entries will be judged by peers, consumers and a panel of judges. The four looks with the most votes will win the relevant trend category Schwarzkopf Professional products worth £200 and one winner chosen by a panel of judges will win a trip to Barcelona!

'Applicants are invited to channel one of four trends within the Essential Looks Flux Collection and can choose from:

Cool Hunters – The ultimate 21st century tribe, their nomadic spirit means they hunt out authenticity and crave personalisation. They love ethnic references and handcrafted and beaded looks, offset with sleek precision bobs, high attitude feather cuts and bold statement colour.

Sports Junkies– Sportswear was the biggest trend to emerge from New York this season with clean lines, neon colours and hi tech fabrics representing an emerging breed of hip adrenalin. They love graphic, powerful, polished and minimalist looks with the ability to shape shift.

Dark Angels– Sultry, sensual, hypnotic, exotic, this trend appeals to women whose innate confidence and powerful good looks combine to give them a magnetic appeal. They are ultra feminine and powerfully seductive, they love luxurious, perfectly glossy hair with peek-a-boo fringes and rich ultra natural colour.

Hip Opulants – This pleasure-seeking crowd love glamour with high-octane show stopping looks that mix wild prints with eye-popping colour and a dash of sparkle. Edgy, sharp, clean, cuts stop screen siren blonde and decadent golden reds stop this mood looking too obvious.'

I decided to channel Dark Angels with a little help from the following products ...

Schwarzkopf Osis + Soft and Straight
Schwarzkopf Osis + Sparkler
Schwarzkopf Osis +  Flatliner
Silhouette Color Brilliance Hairspray

And here is the end result!

What do you think?

Are you going to enter & if so, which trend will you channel?

Let me know!

Celebrity Style - Lauren Conrad ♥

Olá Lovelies!

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. I've had tons going on, not all necessarily good unfortunately. I'm not going to bore you all with the details, but if you're interested just ask me on twitter etc. Anyways, this post was supposed to go up yesterday and i am day late so sorry about that. It's a fab guest post about Lauren Conrad's style by the lovely Elena from Love 212 :) Enjoy!

Lauren Conrad came to prominence on the MTV reality show Laguna Beach before starring in her own spin off show The Hills. This followed her starting out as an intern at Teen Vogue and then working for fashion PR firm People's Revolution. Over the course of 5 seasons she developed a style all of her own - flirty and feminine, young but still polished.

Capitalising on the success of the show Lauren launched her first clothing line The Lauren Conrad Collection in 2007, with her second line LC Lauren Conrad following in 2009, sold exclusively at Kohls in the US. In 2011 she launched a third line Paper Crown, the Fall collection of which will be available in stores from late August this year.

Lauren has come a long way from her early days in Laguna Beach. She released her fashion book Lauren Conrad style in 2010 and another book Lauren Conrad Beauty is currently being written. She also set up www.thebeautydepartment.com with her stylist and makeup artist as well as running www.laurenconrad.com

I hope you like my first guest post! If you do like the Celebrity style feature I will make it a regular piece on http://love212.org

Thankyou so much for guest posting hunnie, I really enjoyed having you :) I like Lauren's style too. Please make the celeb style feature a regular on your blog, I love it!
